Editor's Notes:
---------------

It seems I struck a few chords last week with my editorial! I just wanted
to say Thanks to everyone who wrote and told me I was doing a good job and
that they love what we're doing here at BTC! It means a lot to me. I had
been receiving such negative email for so long that I had to say something.
Thanks everyone! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here! 8)

It's been slow news month here at Dokken Central, so I thought it would be
cool if I printed some stuff just for fun. With all the negative posts and
soapbox lectures, I'm sure we could all use a breath of fresh air. Here
are a few things some of my friends sent that I thought were pretty cool!

From Teresa RedEagle:

This site is doing a metal poll... hehe, something to keep the natives busy ;)
http://user.tninet.se/~gec405l/metal/poll.htm

Here's another one for best song of the millennium:

From: jgarvin@realogic.com

ARE YOU FEELING OLD? IF NOT, CONSIDER THIS:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were
born in 1980...

...they have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan era.

...they were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged.

...Black Monday 1987 is as significant to them as the Great
   Depression.

...their world has always included AIDS.

...Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums and cassette audiotapes;
they may have heard of an 8-track, but probably never actually seen (or
   heard) one.

...the digital Disc was presented to Wall Street when they were 1 year
   old.

...from their earliest years, a camera was something you used once and
   threw away.

...as far as they know, stamps have always cost about 32 cents.

...few, if any, have lived without an answering machine.

...few have used a TV set with only 13 channels.

...some use the word "clickers" for "remote control", yet they do not
   know why they say it.

...they were born the year that Walkmen were introduced by Sony.

...the expression "you sound like a broken record" means nothing to
   them.

YOU'RE PROBABLY AGED 25 TO 35 IF:

You wore anything Izod, especially those windbreakers that folded up
into a pouch you could wear around your waist.

You owned a Jordache anything, or you remember when Jordache jeans
were cool.

You remember LeFreak by Chic

In your sophomore class picture, you're wearing an Izod shirt with the
collar "up."

"All-skate, change directions" means something to you.

In high school, you and all your friends discussed elaborate plans to
get together again at the end of the century and play "1999" by Prince
over and over again.

You rode in the back of the station wagon and you faced the cars
behind you in the "tail gunner" position.

Schoolhouse Rock played a HUGE part in how you actually learned the
English language.

You actually know who Rick Springfield is.

You're starting to believe (now that it wouldn't affect YOU) that
maybe having the kids go to school year-round wouldn't be such a bad idea
after all.

You ever wanted to be gagged with a spoon.

Bo and Luke Duke.

There was nothing strange about Bert and Ernie living together.

Knickers and leg warmers were cool

You learned to swim about the same time "Jaws" came out and still
carry the emotional scars to this day.

You ever wanted to learn to play "Stairway to Heaven" on the guitar
and choreographed "Dancing Queen" by yourself in your room.

You were afraid of the Sleestaks on Land of the Lost.

The first time you ever kissed someone was at a dance during "Crazy
for You" by Madonna.

You ever used the phrase "kiss mah grits" in conversation.

You had ringside seats for Luke and Laura's wedding

You know who shot J.R.

This rings a bell: "My name, is Charlie...they work for me."

You ever had a Dorothy Hammill haircut

You sat with your friends on a Friday night and dialed "8-6-7-5-3-0-9"
to see if Jenny would answer.

You owned a pair of Rainbow suspenders just like Mork used to wear.

You remember when your cable TV box had the three rows of numbers and
you had to move the selector switch accordingly.

You could sing "99 Red Balloons" in English and in German.

Feathered hair

Your jaw would ache by the time you finished those "brick-sized"
packages of Bazooka gum.

The phrase "Where's the beef?" still doubles you over with laughter.

Have a good week everyone!
Kirsten

Rokken Robin:
-------------
Howdy, Dokken faithful, Rokken Robin taking a breath between road trips to
check in before heading off to the X-Files season finale party at Stanford,
which oughta be a blast...(Hey...let's invite Chelsea...)

Anyway, a sad doff of the cap and a moment of silence here to mark the
passing of a man who was a "rock star" before the term "rock and roll" was
co-opted, the original charismatic frontman who paved the way for so many
more and made it sound so easy, whether you liked him (or his music) or
not, you had to give him props...Francis Albert Sinatra. The music lives
on...

And as a California baseball fan I note with deep disappointment the trade
sending metal activist and All-Star catcher Mike Piazza from Los Angeles to
the Florida Marlins. The players L.A. is getting in return might well give
them a pennant this year...but Mike was more than just a great athlete to
Losangelenos; he was a fixture on the hard rock scene as a visible and
vocal supporter. We'll miss you, Mike; remember L.A.'s still your home.
Florida fans, take good care of Mike, he's the greatest...

Not a lot to report from the Dokken camp this week. The print newsletter
will be a few days late this month, and my apologies--scheduling problems,
plus *my* itinerary-from-hell schedule. Hoping for a print date of the
22nd at this point...

Those of you who saw the "'Hair' Are They Now" feature on MTV last week
note that it was little more than a redux of "It Came From The 80's
II"...not so much as a mention of the Dokken personnel change or Lita
Ford's new motherhood, neither of which are exactly
hot-off-the-wire-service news. Obviously people at MTV don't exactly have
their ear to the ground as far as metal is concerned, but then they jumped
on the techno bandwagon after that genre had passed its zenith. Typical.
Strange how this little channel that began as such a novel, rebel idea has
now become "the establishment"...When they decide to lose the "cinema
verite" soap operas and put some relevant music on rotation, I'll tune in
again...On the other hand, supposedly old-fogey VH-1 recently ran a
wonderful "Behind The Music" feature on Ozzy Osbourne...

Again, not much newsy at the moment so I'll let Kirst take it from here.
Keep rokken...

Peace/out--

I just wanted to write in support of keeping the real all the negative junk
out. I have never met any of the band members ( wish i had, but not in the
cards) and if they don't get along it doesn't bother me. We have gotten plenty
of great songs from them and nowi honestly believe these guys are creatively
better off with out eachother. In the old days they probably were so focused
on just making it bug they could over look anything, now that they are all
established i imagine it is tough to overcome there differences. You are
right about not oweing us anything, I can't believe anyone said that. Kisten,
When is the next Don Dokken album coming out? I have a feeling from what was
reported about a "Tooth and Nail" sound that it is going to be great!!!

Have a good week end!

Actually according to Scottie Hill (from Skid Row) who lives less than a mile
from me, he said that the band voted Sebastian out because of his attitude.
He said Sebastian was impossible to work with. This is only Scottie's opinion
though since I never had the chance to work with Sebastian LOL.

go somewhere else. Keep up the good work.

I just wanted to write you and tell you that you are and have been doing
an awesome job with BTC, and to say that anyone that says anything otherwise
is fooling themselves. BTC is the best fan supported internet magazine on
the entire internet. These people that aim personal attacks on true fans
that just want to report the facts are not true fans at all. Remember,
anyone can post speculation, rumors, and personal attacks, but it takes a
person of strong integrity to post the truth. Keep up the good work!

I was listening to Sacred Groove tonight and I have to say that Glenn Hughes
is an incredible singer. Everyone should pull out their copy of that album and
really LISTEN to that guy sing. He just wails. I doubt that it would be
financially feasable for Hughes to join Lynch Mob permanently, but I sure
would love to hear a whole album of Lynch and Hughes working together. Having
said that, Sebastian Bach is an fantastic vocalist as well. I can't wait to
hear new stuff from George.

Hello my name is Sara, and I have been on the btc list for about a year.
I don't get to keep track of everything that goes on. I'm a full time student
and I work in radio, so basically, they own my soul ;) just kidding. Anyway,
my point to writing. What the hell is going on?? When ever I am able to read
everyone seems to be yelling and arguing with someone. Just enjoy the music
and BTC. I know i do when I can. I appericate BTC for what it is. It's nice
to know some people have values, so stay on your soapbox baby!!!

And you shouldn't. People complain? Too fucking bad for them. This is
*your* list, you run it the way you damn well please. I've always been
impressed by your devotion to the bandmembers and their music and you show
your integrity by refusing to print something you might know but which the
band has asked you not to air.

Run things the way you please; you've done a damn fine job for six years
(and I should know, since I've been here for most of them!) and you don't
need to change a thing.

Re: the format of BTC: Dokken/Mob vs. just Dokken vs. just Mob stuff --
personally, I rather like knowing what George is up to (he was, after all,
my favorite member of Dokken). This list, though, was originally about the
band Dokken, so I could deal with it if it was only about Dokken and not
what George was up to.

That said, I hope you don't change anything and continue to feed us all the
info on Dokken AND Lynch Mob that we so desperately crave. Music! Music! I
must have more music!!! *pant pant*

Phil
